- This role operates in a fast-paced silicon wafer manufacturing environment, focusing on final inspection and quality control within a cleanroom.
You will follow complex, detailed procedures, handle delicate wafers and equipment, and complete precise documentation to ensure products meet strict quality and customer specifications. The position works a 12-hour day shift on a compressed schedule and requires comfort working around automated tools, manual equipment, and hazardous chemicals while wearing full cleanroom protective gear.
- Responsibilities
- + Perform final inspection and quality control tasks for silicon wafers in a cleanroom production environment.
+ Follow complex, detailed procedures and documented training to meet quality, safety, and cleanroom standards.
+ Complete all required documentation and records accurately and on time to meet daily production targets without defects.
+ Operate both automated and manual equipment to process wafers, including loading and unloading material and handling wafer cassettes with care.
+ Transport carts loaded with material, pushing weights ranging from approximately 20 pounds up to occasionally 400 pounds.
+ Hand pour specified amounts of chemicals into manual cleanlines, test chemical lines with test strips, and ensure correct chemicals are used before running the line.
+ Work safely around hazardous and volatile chemicals, adhering to all safety and handling procedures.
+ Manually handle wafers, tools, and other equipment while preventing contact with cleanroom garments, gloves, or mechanical equipment.
+ Stand and walk for extended periods throughout a 12-hour shift while performing production and inspection tasks.
+ Clean equipment and work areas to maintain cleanroom and 5S standards, ensuring a tidy, organized, and compliant workspace.
+ Multitask by monitoring wafer movement on multiple pieces of automated machinery simultaneously.
+ Review work orders, load material onto appropriate tool sets, and select or load the correct recipes according to customer specifications.
+ Verify that lot numbers on work orders match lot numbers on box labels at load and unload for each operation.
+ Count wafers in each box and confirm quantities match the work order and box label at load and unload for each operation.
+ Set up tools for each box, verifying that recipes match work orders and that the correct lot numbers are scanned into computer systems.
+ Ensure wafer cassettes are placed correctly on tools at the designated station and position to avoid robotic malfunctions, scrap, and exposure to chemical or mechanical hazards.
+ Enter daily quality and calibration data into computerized checklists accurately and consistently.
+ Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify that process data and conditions meet quality and order specifications at each step and before moving orders to the next process.
+ Respond to and troubleshoot tool alarms, taking appropriate action or escalation as needed.
+ Run test wafers and visually inspect them under a halogen light in a dark booth to detect scratches, particles, or other defects.
+ Visually inspect wafers and finished boxes to ensure no pen marks, particles, scratches, smudges, or expired date/time stamps are present, and that wafers are aligned and not cross-indexed.
+ Visually differentiate mixed material by checking for flipped wafers in cassettes and slight color variations on wafer front and back sides.
+ Verify precise alignment of wafers after final inspection through opaque and clear lids sealed in plastic bags.
+ Communicate clearly in English with supervisors and co-workers to coordinate work, clarify instructions, and support team goals.
+ Work collaboratively as part of a team, while also being self-motivated and able to work independently when required.
+ Participate in cross-training and become certified to rotate among multiple process areas within the department.
- Essential Skills
- + Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work a 12-hour day shift.
+ Fine motor skills to handle wafers and wafer cassettes carefully without contacting cleanroom uniforms, gloves, or equipment.
+ Willingness and ability to work around hazardous and volatile chemicals, including hand pouring chemicals and using chemical test strips.
+ Capability to push and maneuver carts weighing from approximately 20 pounds up to occasionally 400 pounds.
+ Strong ability to follow detailed procedures, training materials, and processes to meet quality and cleanroom standards.
+ Ability to multitask and monitor multiple automated machines and wafer movements simultaneously.
+ Strong attention to detail for verifying lot numbers, wafer counts, recipes, and process steps.
+ Ability to accurately enter data into computerized checklists and production systems.
+ Comfort using computers, including proficiency with a keyboard, monitor, and basic software applications.
+ Basic technical aptitude and ability to read computer screens and enter data correctly.
+ Ability to operate a calculator and telephone as part of daily tasks.
+ Ability to communicate effectively in English with co-workers and leadership.
+ Ability to read and write in English, including instructions, procedures, manuals, reports, and correspondence.
+ High level of organization, time management, and the ability to meet daily production and quality targets.
+ Strong visual acuity to work in varied lighting conditions and identify subtle differences in wafer alignment, color, and defects.
+ Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated and self-directed when working independently.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Prior production or manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
+ Experience in semiconductor or cleanroom environments is beneficial.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook email, or similar software is desired.
+ Experience in inspection, quality assurance, or processing roles is advantageous.
+ Proven multitasking ability in fast-paced environments.
+ Demonstrated high attention to detail and strong focus on quality.
+ Good time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
+ Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support others to achieve department goals.
+ Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to maintain accuracy under time pressure.

- Work Environment
- The role is based in an indoor, climate-controlled cleanroom that is ventilated and air conditioned to support stable manufacturing conditions.
Due to the required personal protective equipment, such as a hooded full-body cleanroom suit (bunny suit) with hairnet and/or beard net, safety glasses, face mask, nylon or nitrile gloves, and chemical apron, operators may become warm or sweaty during the shift. The position involves a 12-hour day shift from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on a compressed workweek schedule, alternating between three days on/four days off and four days on/three days off, including every other weekend and potential overtime as needed. You will work around automated and manual equipment, carts of varying weights, and hazardous or volatile chemicals, following strict safety and cleanroom protocols. Lighting conditions may vary depending on inspection tools, including work in dark booths with halogen lights for visual inspections. The environment is structured, process-driven, and cleanliness-focused, with expectations to maintain 5S standards and adhere to all cleanroom and safety requirements.

- This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $18.
50 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
