Job Description

Production Operator (DSP) Job Description The Production Operator (DSP) runs multiple pieces of automated machinery that perform polishing processes for silicon wafer manufacturing in a semi-cleanroom environment. This role follows complex, detailed procedures to polish and clean silicon wafers on both sides to meet exact customer specifications using Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodology. The position requires strong attention to detail, strict adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to work 12-hour shifts on a compressed workweek schedule. Responsibilities Run and monitor multiple automated double-sided polishing machines to polish silicon wafers using alkali polishing slurry according to customer specifications until wafers are free of defects. Operate and monitor the cleaning process (clean line) to remove residual slurry from wafer surfaces and ensure they meet cleanliness specifications. Operate metrology equipment to monitor process control and verify that polish removal and wafer flatness meet customer requirements. Use Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodology to measure, identify, and correct process variations and eliminate defects. Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify that all process data, order specifications, weights, and calibrations are correct during and after each process step before moving orders to the next stage. Operate robotic or automated equipment to load and unload wafers, tools, and related equipment. Respond to and troubleshoot tool alarms and escalate issues to team leaders, supervisors, trainers, or higher-level personnel when needed. Use a computer keyboard and Microsoft Excel to input data, track and confirm each process, and complete computerized forms and labels for each order. Perform visual inspection of small parts to identify errors, defects, and irregularities in fabrication, words, and numbers. Follow all documented training, procedures, and processes to meet quality standards and ensure orders are completed on time and without defects. Report, document, and help prevent variations, errors, or lapses in quality, and ensure quality issues are corrected and not repeated. Identify and report suggestions for process or quality improvement to appropriate leadership. Complete all tasks using safe work practices, putting safety ahead of deadlines and other goals. Act as a safety role model with coworkers and maintain high safety awareness when working near moving mechanical parts and hazardous or volatile chemicals. Perform routine cleaning of equipment and work areas to meet standards for each manufacturing process. Multi-task effectively by monitoring the movement of wafers across multiple tool sets at the same time. Review work orders and instructions to ensure all steps, specifications, and customer requirements are understood and followed. Use basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute percentages and decimals using a calculator, Excel, or other methods. Stand for long periods within a 12-hour shift and perform tasks that involve bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, reaching, and grasping. Push, pull, and guide products and machine parts in and out of machines and repeatedly lift up to 25 pounds throughout the shift, occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Work cooperatively in close proximity with other team members or independently in designated areas as required. Adhere to attendance, advance notice, and call-in policies to support consistent production in the manufacturing area.
