POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Grounds Manager, the Grounds Technician Lead will perform and oversee a variety of landscape activities maintaining a safe and positive exterior image of Froedtert South facilities.

Landscaping activities will include:

Installing hardscapes, planting, weeding, chemical treatment, digging, spreading topsoil and other materials, general landscape maintenance/cleaning, winter snow removal and seasonal lawn preparation. The Grounds Technician Lead will operate heavy machinery including skid steer, snow removal equipment, and plow trucks. Perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment. Indoor plant care. Grounds Technician Lead will support moving furniture/equipment and assist Facilities Maintenance staff on projects as assigned. Grounds Technician Lead will support the Grounds department staff as a resource for training and assistance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

High school diploma or

GED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED A

minimum of five (5) years of experience in landscaping or horticultural work. Experience training others in landscape best practices Experience in a health care setting Experience applying pesticide in commercial environment preferred

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Valid State Driver's License and insurable with company's agent required Pesticide Certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Ability to lead by example, training others in the department Ability to follow written work procedure Have working knowledge of standard horticultural practices Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently Ability to communicate issues to Grounds Manager Ability to read, write, hear, speak and understand the English language. Ability to operate machinery including mowers, skid steer, and other snow removal equipment. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. Ability to frequently walk/stand/crouch/reach for long periods of time

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Train others in the department on best practices Performs planting and related activities Performs routine lawn maintenance including grass cutting, lawn edging, weed pulling, and other routine lawn-maintenance activities Perform routine parking lot re-striping Install indoor/outdoor holiday decorations Asphalt maintenance/patching Maintain parking structure in clean/safe order, routine power washing Uses lawn mower and related equipment Provides seasonal lawn care, such as spring and fall clean-up Moves materials and equipment and performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping Digs holes and trenches and excavates for landscaping and hardscaping using picks and shovels or related equipment Hauls or spreads topsoil, gravel, sand, mulch, or related materials using wheelbarrows and rakes Hand-finishes grade, and apply seed, straw, or sod Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Landscaping Manager of needed repairs Responds politely to customer inquiries and projects a professional image Loads equipment and materials on and off trucks and trailers Performs snow removal activities as assigned, such as shoveling, salting, etc. Ability to be on-call for emergencies and routine snow removal Assist Facilities Maintenance staff on special projects as assigned Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions Assist and participate in special projects as assigned Any other duties or projects as assigned by the Manager.
