Under general supervision, set up and operate standard milling machines, lathes, CNC machines, and other machine tools as directed through knowledge of tooling, fixturing and common shop practices. If specialized in one specific machine, such as a lathe or mill, should have exemplary skills above and beyond the machine shop standard.

MACHINIST QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma/equivalent Trade/Technical School desirable. 3-5 years' experience. Basic reading, writing and some advanced arithmetic skills required. Understanding of the tools, materials, methods and standard practices of the trade. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Use sound, independent judgment within policy and procedural guidelines. Ability to organize own work and meet critical deadlines.
