Job Description
CNC Operator 1st shift 6 AM - 2:30 PM / $25/hr / Poway, Ca Job Description This temporary CNC Operator role supports production by machining parts on CNC mills and lathes to help clear a short-term backlog. You will work under general supervision, operating CNC equipment, performing basic measurements and inspections, and ensuring parts meet quality standards. The assignment is expected to last approximately 2-3 months and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Responsibilities Load and unload parts and materials into CNC mills and lathes in a safe and efficient manner. Start and stop machine cycles according to established procedures and work instructions. Monitor machine operation throughout the cycle to ensure proper performance and part quality. Perform basic measurements and visual inspections to verify parts meet specifications. Use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to check dimensions and tolerances. Change simple tooling or adjust offsets as directed to maintain part quality and productivity. Follow existing setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions accurately and consistently. Report machine issues, abnormalities, or downtime promptly to supervision or maintenance. Report any quality issues or nonconforming parts and assist in identifying root causes. Collaborate with team members to maintain workflow and meet production targets. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle equipment and materials responsibly. Essential Skills 1 to 2 years of experience as a CNC operator or in a similar machining role. Ability to operate CNC mill and CNC lathe machines under general supervision. Experience loading parts and checking quality during and after machining operations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to understand part requirements. Proficiency using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, setup sheets, and work instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively in a small group. Additional Skills & Qualifications Basic understanding of CNC machining processes and production workflows. Set-up experience on CNC mills or lathes (nice to have but not required). Basic CNC programming experience (nice to have but not required). Comfort working under general supervision while taking initiative to solve minor issues. Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about machine or quality concerns. Why Work Here? The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing a stable daytime shift. You will regularly use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers, and you will follow established setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions in a production environment Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Poway, CA 92064. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
