Job Description

Metals USA - Gregor Technologies Division is seeking
BRAKE PRESS OPERATORS
in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace and fabrication industries.
Responsibilities:
Plans machining by studying & understanding work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations on surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Prepares and operates Brake Press with proper program, tools and material for the specified part. Prepares and loads raw materials and parts onto the machines. Prepares a test run to check if machine produces parts according to specifications; verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run and sample work pieces. Monitors the machines as they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to determine if the process was completed properly. Completes production paperwork, follows shop systems/procedures and follows inspections procedures daily. Inspects and measures finished products and compares to the requirements to determine if the process was completed properly. Performs daily maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure functionality.
Requirements:
Two-year technical degree and/or apprenticeship National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certificate is a plus Proven experience as a Brake Press Operator Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, documents and blueprints. Ability to read measuring instruments such as measuring tapes, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gauges Computer Literacy with understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM Metals USA offers a competitive hourly rate range of $ 20.00 - $ 24.00; if hired for second shift, you will be afforded an hourly shift differential of $ 3.00 / hour.
