Join PSG and help us continue powering tomorrow. Position Overview PSG is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator with live-tooling and Mazatrol control experience. This position is responsible for independently setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathes to manufacture complex precision components from blueprints and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of live-tooling applications and demonstrated experience using steady rests and tailstocks. This is not a repetitive production-operator position; the successful candidate must be capable of completing different setups and producing a variety of precision components with minimal assistance. We are hiring for both first and second shifts. Key Responsibilities Independently program, set up, and operate CNC lathes equipped with live tooling. Create, edit, and troubleshoot conversational programs using Mazatrol controls. Set up and properly use steady rests and tailstocks. Read and interpret complex blueprints, geometric dimensions and tolerances, technical specifications, and work instructions. Determine appropriate machining sequences, tooling, work holding, speeds, and feeds. Install and align cutting tools, fixtures, jaws, and workpieces. Establish tool offsets, work coordinates, and machine reference points. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments. Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, dimensional, and equipment-related issues. Optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, tool life, and consistency. Complete production, inspection, and quality documentation accurately. Maintain equipment and assigned work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures. Required Qualifications At least five years of CNC lathe setup and operating experience. Hands-on experience with Mazatrol controls. Mazatrol conversational programming experience is required. Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes equipped with live tooling. Demonstrated experience setting up and using steady rests and tailstocks. Ability to independently program, set up, and manufacture parts from blueprints. Strong blueprint-reading and shop-math skills. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments. Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding methods, speeds, feeds, and machining practices. Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Experience machining complex, low-volume precision components. Turn-mill machining experience. Experience working with tight tolerances and specialized materials. Experience supporting the power generation, turbine repair, or heavy industrial sectors. Why Join PSG? Join a skilled team performing critical work for the power generation and industrial sectors. PSG offers a safety-focused and collaborative environment, opportunities to expand your technical expertise, and the chance to work on varied and challenging precision-machining projects.
