Job Title:
CNC Operator Job Description This role focuses on operating and setting up multiple CNC mills and lathes in a clean, modern job shop environment. You will run production on CNC machines, perform frequent setups, and ensure parts meet quality standards through basic inspections and maintenance. Responsibilities Operate and run parts on 23 CNC machines at once, Set up CNC mills and lathes, including preparing tooling, loading programs, and verifying correct machine parameters. Perform 34 complete setups per day on CNC mills and lathes with 3-axis configurations. Machine a variety of materials such as stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and some plastics according to job specifications. Read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are machined to correct dimensions and tolerances. Use calipers and other basic measuring tools to perform in-process and final inspections on machined parts. Use hand and power tools to perform basic maintenance and adjustments on machines and tooling. Monitor machine operations, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency. Collaborate with machinists and other team members to prioritize work, troubleshoot problems, and meet production deadlines. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards. Essential Skills Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes in a production or job shop environment. Hands-on experience operating CNC mills in a production or job shop environment. Previous experience working in a job shop environment with varied, short-run jobs. Experience operating HAAS machines, including setup and production. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Ability to perform basic dimensional inspections using calipers and similar measuring tools. Familiarity with operating 3-axis CNC machines. Ability to use hand and power tools for basic maintenance and adjustments on machines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Mori and Mazak CNC machines. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple machines simultaneously. Comfort working in a job shop culture where ownership and accountability for ones work are expected. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hammond, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
