You load material, call up programs, verify specs, and get the first arc lit. Throughout the day, you're translating work orders into precision cuts—switching between oxy-fuel for heavy sections and plasma for thinner plate—so our customers receive parts on time and to spec. What You'll Do Operate CNC-controlled oxy-fuel equipment to flame cut plate from 1 3/8" up to 10" thick. Run CNC plasma processes for plate from 1/8" to 1 1/4" thick. Interpret work orders and set up machines to meet quality, tolerance, and delivery expectations. Optimize nests and setups to improve throughput and material yield without sacrificing quality. Verify material grade using the color-coding system and confirm dimensions with a tape measure and calipers. Maintain cut quality and tolerances; make basic adjustments and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Handle material safely using a forklift and overhead crane. Complete pre- and post-shift preventive maintenance and keep the cutting surface in top condition. Follow established cutting practices, standard work, and all safety rules; take direction from Supervisors and Shift Leads. Pitch in with additional duties as needed to support team goals. Qualifications High school diploma or GED; a certificate or diploma in an engineering-related field is a plus. Hands-on experience with cutting machines (plasma, laser, or oxy) is required. 1-3 years operating basic CNC machinery. Strong mechanical aptitude, dependable workmanship, and the ability to read a tape measure accurately. Clear communicator, punctual, and dedicated to quality. Willing to work overtime, including on short notice when needed. Work Environment This is a shop-floor role with continual exposure to the sounds, materials, and chemicals common to manufacturing. You'll be on your feet for extended periods and should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
