What would you do? The CNC Machinist is primarily responsible for CNC setup and operation to support machine shop production. As needed, this role may also assist the Parts Team with assembly and other manufacturing activities. Our clean, air-conditioned shop produces CNC-machined components exclusively for use in our patented products. We run production and prototype parts on (3) Brother drilling/tapping centers, a Mazak QTN-200, and a Mazak
QTN-250MSY.
Our typical operations include milling, drilling, tapping, and turning with job quantities between 1 and 500 parts. We use our own MQL systems instead of flood coolant on our machines to maintain a clean, healthy work environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Help with all levels of machine shop work needed, including cutting material, loading parts, machining, deburring and tumbling parts, and other tasks assigned Set up and run parts in a variety of CNC machines, including the Brother VMCs and Mazak QTN200 Review drawings, work orders, and other specifications to determine production operations, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished workpiece Collaborate with Unist's Machine Shop Lead and Support Engineering Manager to complete machine shop jobs, monitor material inventory levels and consumable tooling, and resolve machining or assembly problems When needed, assist the production team by assembling simple stock jobs (nozzles, slide valves, endcaps, etc.), fill and package Coolube (gallons, quarts, samples, pails, and drums) Read work orders, follow production drawings, and follow verbal instructions regarding duties Maintain a clean and organized work area Empty cardboard, trash, etc. Perform a variety of repetitive light hand operations to assemble smaller components or units where procedures are clearly taught or established Use light power tools and hand tools Conduct first piece inspection processes, and complete inspection reports using hand inspection equipment, Starett digital AVR, and/or Keyence vision machine as required Set up and etch parts in the Epilog laser Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Basic English speaking, reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required Manual dexterity required to perform listed job responsibilities. 2+ years of CNC machining experience preferred (setup and operation experience strongly preferred) Ability to use and understand inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, etc.) Strong mechanical aptitude Experience with reading 2D drawings and understanding dimensions, datums, and tolerances Able to successfully pass the Unist Shop Basics Class Familiarity with personal computers and iPads Able to stay focused on the tasks at hand to complete jobs in a timely and efficient manner Able to work independently and with minimum supervision when properly trained At Unist, our core values of Customer Focus, Integrity, Innovation, Personal Responsibility, and Strong Relationships are more than posters on a wall.
