We are continuing to grow and are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist / Setup Operator to join our manufacturing team. This is a skilled machinist position for someone who understands the complete CNC machining process and can independently set up, operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and make necessary adjustments to CNC equipment.

Compensation and Schedule Pay:

$22-$26 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated machining, setup, programming, and inspection capabilities.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. Overtime available. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience Strong experience with Fanuc-controlled CNC machines Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and CNC mills Must have the personal machinist tools necessary to perform the position Strong understanding of the complete CNC machining process Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned jobs CNC Setup and Machining Responsibilities The successful candidate must be capable of: Performing complete CNC machine setups Reading and following setup sheets and tooling sheets Installing and setting cutting tools, holders, fixtures, jaws, and workholding Establishing and adjusting tool and work offsets Understanding tooling selection, tool geometry, feeds, speeds, and machining conditions Safely proving out setups and machining operations Monitoring tooling and recognizing tool wear Troubleshooting machining, tooling, dimensional, and setup problems Making necessary corrections to maintain part quality Maintaining consistent production while protecting the part, tooling, and machine CNC Programming Knowledge Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of CNC programming and be able to: Read and understand G-code and M-code Understand the sequence and intent of a CNC program Make appropriate program modifications at the machine Understand tool calls, offsets, spindle commands, feeds, speeds, positioning, and common machining cycles Identify potential programming or setup problems before they result in scrap or machine damage Blueprint and Manufacturing Documentation Candidates must be highly proficient in: Reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings Understanding dimensional tolerances and applicable GD&T Reading setup sheets and tooling sheets Following routers, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation Identifying critical dimensions and inspection requirements Quality and Inspection Quality is a critical part of every position at SPS. The CNC Machinist / Setup Operator is expected to: Follow all applicable Quality Management System (QMS) procedures Perform required first-piece and in-process inspections Accurately document inspection results Follow established inspection frequencies and procedures Recognize potential nonconforming conditions Stop and correct a process when a quality issue is identified Maintain required production and quality documentation Candidates must be proficient with precision inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, thread gauges, pin gauges, and other precision measuring equipment as required.
