Deliver hands-on instruction in CNC lathe operation, machine safety, startup and shutdown procedures, and daily machine care. Teach employees how to read setup sheets, job travelers, tooling lists, work instructions, and basic CNC programs. Train team members on loading material, changing jaws or collets, installing tooling, setting tool offsets, setting work offsets, and safely running approved programs. Coach employees on proper use of controls, single-block operation, dry runs, feed and spindle overrides, alarm recovery, and safe restart procedures. Develop structured training plans for new hires and existing employees, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced skills development. Provide shop-floor support for CNC lathe operations, including setup assistance, tooling issues, offset adjustments, and basic program troubleshooting.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong working knowledge of CNC lathe setup, operation, tooling, work holding, offsets, feeds and speeds, inspection, and troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, setup sheets, and manufacturing work instructions. Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and related inspection tools. Working knowledge of CNC controls and the ability to read and make basic edits to approved CNC programs. Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, and communicate with employees at different skill levels. Strong patience, leadership, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and employee development.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of hands-on CNC lathe or turning-center experience. Experience with Citizen, Miyano, Fanuc, Haas, Mazak/Mazatrol, Okuma, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Mori Seiki, Doosan, Nakamura, or similar CNC controls. Experience training employees on two-axis lathes, live-tool lathes, Y-axis machines, sub-spindle machines, Swiss-type CNC lathes, bar feeders, and automated turning systems. Experience in a high-mix job shop, production machining, aerospace, medical, automotive, defense, or precision-manufacturing environment. IND-A2
