Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a CNC Set Up Operator and become a key player in producing high-precision metal components. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines, including lathes and milling machines, to ensure efficient and accurate production. Your expertise in machining tools, blueprint reading, and measurement will drive quality and productivity, supporting our commitment to excellence in manufacturing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced equipment and contribute to innovative projects in a fast-paced environment. Duties Prepare CNC machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and ensuring all setup parameters are correctly configured based on technical drawings and specifications Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), and Mazatrol controls to produce precise parts Interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements and tolerances Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions Perform manual machining tasks such as turning on lathes or grinding when necessary to support CNC operations or finish parts Monitor machine operations during production runs for quality assurance, making adjustments as needed to maintain specifications Conduct CNC quality inspections using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards and measurement instruments to ensure parts meet strict quality criteria Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and properly handling power tools, hand tools, grinders, and other equipment Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; experience with CNC milling machines and CNC lathes is essential Strong knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar for interpreting designs; familiarity with CAM programming for toolpath generation Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret mechanical blueprints for machining setups Skilled in the use of machining tools, manual tools, grinders, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality control Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, drilling, and boring Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus but not required; understanding of lean manufacturing principles is beneficial Basic math skills for calculating measurements, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and conversions during setup and operation Familiarity with CNC G-code programming for machine control; ability to troubleshoot program issues effectively Knowledge of GD&T standards for precise measurement interpretation; experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) preferred Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately while ensuring adherence to safety standards using hand tools and power tools during setup or manual machining tasks This role invites motivated individuals eager to develop their skills in advanced manufacturing processes while contributing to high-quality production.
