Description:

CNC Operator Job Description The CNC Operator sets up, operates, and monitors hydraulic and mechanical presses and CNC machinery to produce quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role performs daily inspections and pre-startup preventive maintenance, reads and interprets technical drawings and specifications, and ensures accurate documentation and a clean, safe work area. The position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals, including those with no prior experience, who are eager to learn and grow in an industrial setting. Responsibilities Perform daily inspection and pre-startup preventive maintenance on assigned machines and equipment. Read and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Start and operate hydraulic and mechanical presses and CNC machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Load and unload machines efficiently to maintain productivity and meet production targets. Follow detailed instructions for machine setup and be willing to accept frequent supervision and assistance to ensure proper operation. Keep all tools, dies, and machine controls in good working condition and report any issues immediately to the appropriate supervisor. Complete all required paperwork accurately and thoroughly, including production and quality records. Observe all safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly at all times. Maintain a clean and organized work area and contribute to the cleanliness of the surrounding production environment. Arrive consistently on time, follow directions, respond constructively to feedback, and actively seek input to improve performance. Essential Skills Ability to read and understand basic drawings, manuals, and specifications related to machining and press operations. Ability to use simple measuring tools such as calipers, measuring tape, scales, and similar devices. Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting two-digit numbers and multiplying and dividing with tens and hundreds. Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial machinery and tools. Capability to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing environment. Willingness to receive direction, accept frequent supervision, and learn proper machine setup and operation. Attention to detail to ensure parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances. Commitment to following safety procedures and using equipment correctly. Additional Skills & Qualifications No prior experience required; training is provided for motivated candidates. Experience with calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments is an asset. Familiarity with CNC operations and machine setup is beneficial but not mandatory. Industrial or manufacturing experience is an advantage. Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings is helpful. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to perform hands-on tasks. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility with approximately 60 employees, providing a collaborative production environment. The job requires significant walking, bending, and standing, as well as lifting up to 45 pounds, frequent use of hands and arms, and regular talking or hearing. Team members may occasionally sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. The work area may be subject to external weather conditions, such as humid conditions, heat, or cold, and employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts in a loud environment. The dress code requires long pants (such as jeans or work pants) and steel-toe footwear to ensure safety on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hazleton, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
