Job Description
CNC Operator BAM Workforce Solutions is partnering with an established industrial manufactrurer in search of a CNC Operator to join their team. This is a permanent opportunity in a clean, well-run machine shop environment where you will work alongside an experienced CNC machinist and build toward running setups and jobs independently over time. Overview:
Operate one or more CNC machines including Doosan vertical drill/lathes and Quick Mill vertical milling centers based on daily workload. Read shop drawings, programmed layouts, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations before running a job. Select the right feeds, speeds, depth of cut, and tooling based on material type, thickness, and shape where stainless and nickel alloys are the primary materials in this shop. Run drilling operations including through holes and tap holes as the primary focus of the role, with the potential to run multiple machines simultaneously as skills develop. Modify CNC programs as needed to hit required dimensions and tolerances. Check finished pieces using micrometers, measuring tapes, verniers, and other precision measuring tools. Load and unload heavy steel plates using a large capacity forklift and overhead crane. Resize and remark remnant pieces for return to inventory as required. Perform minor machine setups and tooling changes as part of the daily workflow. Work closely with the existing CNC machinist to sharpen your skills and build toward independent setup and job execution.Requirements:
Hands-on CNC machine operation experience. Experience working with stainless steel or nickel alloys a strong plus. Ability to read shop drawings and interpret specifications, tolerances, and layout requirements. Comfortable using precision measuring tools including micrometers and verniers. Must own or be willing to purchase basic hand tools including allen wrenches, ratchet/socket sets, feeler gauges, a 0"-1" micrometer, and related shop tools. Able to stand throughout the workday and handle steel pieces up to 75 lbs.
