Press brake, industrial saw, fabrication, machine shop, metal stamping, or other production/line facility experience is highly preferred. Candidates from manufacturing, packaging, automotive, sheet metal, plastics, or any high-volume production environment are also encouraged to apply, even without steel fabrication experience specifically. Must be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled shop (hot in summer, cold in winter).
Key Responsibilities Machine Operation:
Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery (CNC equipment, press brakes, saws, punches, shears, plasma/laser cutters, or similar) to fabricate steel components to spec.
Quality Checks:
Inspect parts against drawings and tolerances throughout the run, catching defects early and adjusting the machine as needed.
Material Handling:
Load, unload, and stage raw steel and finished components safely, using overhead cranes, forklifts, or hand-moving equipment as required.
Preventive Maintenance:
Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance on assigned equipment, and flag mechanical issues before they cause downtime.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all JGM and OSHA safety protocols, wear required PPE and work safely in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
Production Pace:
Keep up with production schedules and takt time on the line, communicating with leads or supervisors when a job is running behind.
Documentation:
Complete production logs, quality checks, and downtime/scrap tracking accurately and on time.
Teamwork:
Work closely with fellow operators, fitters, welders, and shop leadership to keep the line running smoothly and safely. Qualifications 2+ years of related work experience required (3+ preferred) Press brake, industrial saw, fabrication, or other production/line facility experience highly preferred. Experience with equipment such as CNC machines, punches, shears, or comparable industrial machinery also considered; willingness to cross-train on new equipment types. Experienced machine operators without steel fabrication experience but with production-line machine operation background (manufacturing, packaging, automotive, sheet metal, plastics, etc.) are also encouraged to apply. Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment. Ability to read basic blueprints, work orders, or production specs, or willing to learn. Basic math and measurement skills (tape measure, calipers, etc.). Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus but not required — training provided. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic; comfortable in a fast-paced shop floor setting. Ability to work as part of a team and take directions from shop leads and supervisors. OSHA 10 certification required or willingness to obtain during company-paid onboarding. Schedule Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM-3:30 PM After training positions will move to 2nd shift (approximately 12pm-10pm) Saturday shifts available if you want to pick up additional overtime — completely optional Physical Requirements The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Comfortable working around heavy machinery and material handling equipment.
