Job Description

Connect Staffing is hiring a CNC Machine Operator for a manufacturing plant in Houston, TX. This is a temp-to-hire overnight position paying $22-$27/hr depending on experience, with approximately 20 hours of weekly overtime. In this role, you will operate CNC mills and lathes to machine parts to spec, adjust machine settings to hold tolerances, and read engineering drawings and routers to set up and run jobs correctly. This position runs Monday through Friday nights with consistent overtime, offering steady, long-term work.

Weekly OT required (~20 hrs/wk) Responsibilities Operate CNC mills, lathes, and turning centers to produce parts according to job specifications and work orders. Select and adjust machine settings to maintain output quality and dimensional tolerances. Read and interpret engineering drawings and routers to set up and run jobs correctly. Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and document inspection results. Monitor machines during production runs and identify issues that affect quality or safety. Follow established quality and safety standards throughout the shift. Minimum Requirements 1+ year of experience operating CNC equipment — mills, lathes, or turning centers — in a manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) as applied to engineering drawings. Experience performing basic math calculations for machining setups and offsets. Background in rotor, motor, or rotating equipment manufacturing. Experience working in a high-volume or high-mix production environment. Ability to read and interpret multi-view engineering drawings with tolerancing callouts. Pre-Employment Requirements Drug screen required. Background check required. E-Verify / work authorization required. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. and frequently lift up to 10 lbs. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the shift. Steel toe boots required (employee-provided).
