Job Description
CNC Router Operator - Job DescriptionPosition Overview The CNC Router Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to produce precise cabinet components according to shop drawings, cut lists, and production standards. This role also supports downstream production tasks such as edgebanding parts and building drawer boxes to keep workflow moving efficiently through the shop. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & Programming — Load programs, verify tool paths, select tooling, and prepare materials for cutting. CNC Operation — Operate the CNC router safely and efficiently while monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed. Material Handling — Pull sheet goods, inspect materials for defects, and stage jobs for production. Edgebanding — Apply edgebanding to CNC‑cut parts, ensuring clean edges, proper adhesion, and consistent quality. Drawer Box Assembly — Build drawer boxes to spec, ensuring accuracy, squareness, and smooth operation. Quality Control — Inspect parts for accuracy, squareness, and clean machining before releasing them to the next department. Tooling & Maintenance — Maintain bits, collets, and machine components; perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance. Workflow Coordination — Communicate with the production manager and downstream departments to ensure smooth job flow. Qualifications Experience operating a CNC router or similar automated machinery (cabinet shop experience preferred). Ability to read shop drawings , cut lists, and production documents. Familiarity with edgebanders , drawer box construction, and general cabinet shop workflow. Strong understanding of measurements, tolerances, and material characteristics. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery. Ability to lift sheet goods and work in a fast‑paced production environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50-75 lbs. Standing for extended periods. Working around machinery, dust, and noise in a production environment.
