CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator Job Description The CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes for both prototype and established production processes. This role follows prescribed CNC standards, meets defined cycle times, supports on-time delivery through strong performance, and actively contributes to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives while promoting a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities + Follow prescribed standards for CNC lathe operations and set-ups for established and prototype processes. + Set up CNC lathe equipment to run production according to documented work instructions and quality requirements. + Meet defined cycle times while maintaining a strong focus on quality and accuracy. + Pay close attention to detail and apply critical thinking skills to identify and resolve machining and process issues. + Take an active role in organizing and improving current processes by suggesting changes to standard work instructions ( SWI ). + Pre-stage raw material, perform machine set-ups, conduct tool changes, and run production parts for proven processes. + Make tool offsets and other necessary machine adjustments to achieve required product dimensions and tolerances. + Use portable measuring devices to inspect parts and verify conformance to specifications during the production process. + Accurately read and interpret blueprints, quality documents, and other pertinent written materials related to machining operations. + Apply working knowledge of GD&T and mathematical formulas to calculate product dimensioning and ensure proper part layout. + Troubleshoot machine operation issues and take appropriate corrective actions to maintain productivity and quality. + Maintain a quality-conscious attitude and demonstrate pride of ownership in assigned responsibilities. + Communicate effectively with team members and other departments using clear verbal and written communication. + Proactively adhere to established company policies and manufacturing strategies in daily work activities. + Use a reasonably complete set of personal tools to perform set-ups and related machining tasks efficiently.
