- Job Title: CNC Operator 2nd Shift
- Job Description
- The CNC Operator on 2nd shift sets up and operates CNC machines to produce precision machined parts that meet exact specifications and quality standards.
In this role, you interpret technical drawings and blueprints, monitor machine performance, perform detailed quality inspections, and support continuous improvement of machining processes. You work closely with programmers, setup operators, and production teams to keep projects on schedule while maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Responsibilities
- + Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts according to technical drawings and specifications.
+ Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining and part conformity.
+ Monitor machine operations, make adjustments to cutting parameters, tooling, and offsets to maintain quality and efficiency.
+ Load and unload parts safely and efficiently, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
+ Verify first-piece and in-process dimensions using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
+ Perform quality control inspections on machined parts to confirm they meet design specifications, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
+ Conduct visual inspections to identify surface defects, dimensional issues, or other non-conformances and document findings.
+ Document and report discrepancies, non-conformances, and quality issues, and communicate them to CNC setup operators and manufacturing leadership.
+ Maintain production logs, equipment run-time records, and other required documentation to support traceability and
ISO 9001
compliance.
+ Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic adjustments to minimize downtime.
+ Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, coordinating with maintenance teams for complex repairs and servicing.
+ Clean machines, tools, and work areas daily to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workspace.
+ Monitor consumables such as cutting tools and coolant, and report when replacements or adjustments are required.
+ Retrieve raw materials and components from inventory for machining operations and ensure correct material usage.
+ Handle finished machined parts carefully and organize them for downstream operations such as welding, powder coating, and assembly.
+ Maintain an organized work area and support 5S standards, including proper storage and return of unused materials.
+ Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and report safety hazards or concerns immediately.
+ Participate in safety training and actively contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
+ Support
ISO 9001
compliance through accurate documentation, record keeping, and adherence to established processes.
+ Collaborate with CNC programmers, CNC setup operators, and production teams to meet project deadlines and production priorities.
+ Provide feedback to CNC programmers on cycle times, tooling performance, and potential process improvements.
+ Assist in developing and refining machining processes and techniques to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
+ Communicate clearly with manufacturing teams regarding component readiness, scheduling, and production status.
+ Provide support to other machine shop personnel as needed and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
- Essential Skills
- + High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC machines.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude with proven problem-solving skills in a machining environment.
+ Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
+ Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and precision.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as required by production activities.
+ Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling tools, materials, and small components.
+ Ability to monitor machine operations and make appropriate adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
+ Capability to maintain production logs and equipment run-time records accurately.
+ Commitment to following safety protocols, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Technical certification or associate degree in machining or a related field (preferred).
+ 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
+ Familiarity with CNC programming and G-code.
+ Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
+ Experience with multiple CNC machine types such as mills, lathes, and multi-axis equipment.
+ Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix production environments.
+ Forklift certification.
+ High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and precision.
+ Safety-focused mindset with consistent adherence to protocols and procedures.
+ Reliable and punctual work habits with a strong work ethic.
+ Team-oriented and collaborative approach to working with cross-functional groups.

- Work Environment

You work on 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., operating precision CNC equipment alongside experienced programmers, setup operators, and production teams. The facility emphasizes organized workstations and 5S principles, with a strong focus on safety, proper use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with

standards. The environment is fast-paced and quality-driven, with access to modern tools, measuring instruments, and support from maintenance and engineering teams.
- Job Type & Location
- This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $30.
00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
