PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize CAD/CAM software to prepare files for cutting.
- Download files to machinery.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specified or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tool, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances and ensure that machined parts conform to product specifications.
- Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- May operate bench grinder to sharpen tools.
- May set up machines for other workers.
- Programming ability is helpful, but it is not required.
