Job Title:
CNC Machinist - Level 3 (1st Shift) Job Description This role is for an experienced Level 3 CNC Machinist on 1st shift who will operate and set up CNC machines, including lathes and mills. You will load and unload parts, perform tool changes and offsets, and complete quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and hands-on experience troubleshooting and adjusting CNC equipment in a production environment. Responsibilities Operate CNC machines, including lathes and mills, in a Level 3 capacity to produce high-quality parts. Set up CNC machines by selecting and installing tools, setting offsets, and preparing fixtures and workholding as needed. Load and unload raw materials and finished parts from machines in a safe and efficient manner. Perform tool changes and adjust offsets to maintain part quality and meet dimensional tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to understand part specifications and machining requirements. Conduct in-process quality checks using appropriate measuring tools to verify part dimensions and surface finish. Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, dimensional deviations, and machine alarms, and make necessary adjustments. Monitor machine performance and production output to ensure parts are produced within required cycle times and quality standards. Perform basic preventive maintenance and cleaning on machines to keep equipment in good working condition. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and improve machining processes. Follow all safety procedures, shop guidelines, and standard operating procedures while working on the production floor. Essential Skills At least 3 years of CNC machining experience in a production environment. Experience operating CNC lathes and mills. At least 2 years of experience performing tool changes and adjusting offsets on CNC machines. At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints. Proficiency in CNC machine setup, including selecting tools, setting offsets, and preparing the machine for production. Ability to perform in-process quality checks and use basic measuring tools to verify part dimensions. Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills for resolving machining and equipment issues. Ability to work independently on a Level 3 CNC position with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Programming experience on CNC machines is strongly preferred. Previous experience with changeovers and quick setups is beneficial. Familiarity with multiple CNC controls and machining operations is an advantage. Ability to adapt to varying production demands and part runs. Willingness to work voluntary overtime when available. Why Work Here? The facility operates CNC lathes and mills in a production shop environment, where you will work on and around industrial machinery. Voluntary overtime is frequently available on Fridays and Saturdays, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for those who prefer additional hours. The role starts as a contract-to-hire opportunity over approximately 90 business days, working onsite in a manufacturing setting that follows standard shop safety practices and guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Racine, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
