In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machine programs to ensure precision and efficiency in metal machining processes. Your expertise will drive the production of high-quality components using advanced CNC technology, including multi-axis machines and CAD/CAM software. Ability to quote a job and take it from programming to a finished part is a must. Develop and write CNC programs for various machining centers, including CNC mill machines and CNC lathes, utilizing CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as Mastercam. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to ensure accurate manufacturing processes. Set up machining tools, fixtures, and tooling to optimize machining operations while adhering to safety standards and quality requirements. Perform precision measurements using calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part dimensions and quality control. Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling wear, or programming errors; make necessary adjustments to improve cycle times and accuracy. Collaborate with engineering teams on CAD design modifications and provide feedback for manufacturability improvements. Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, tooling specifications, and process parameters to ensure consistency across production runs. Experience Proven experience in CNC programming for milling machines and CNC lathes within a manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency with Mastercam. Familiarity with Haas controls and other common CNC control systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of mechanical blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and schematic interpretation essential for precise manufacturing. Experience with metal machining processes, CNC tooling setup, and precision measurement techniques. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows and reduce waste. Mechanical knowledge combined with expertise in geometry, schematics analysis, and the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
