Do you take pride in producing precision-machined components while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety? We're looking for a CNC Machinist (Setup & Operator) to join our afternoon shift team. This role is ideal for someone with strong setup experience who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting machining issues, and producing high-quality parts in a custom manufacturing environment. What You'll Do As a CNC Programmer / Setup & Operator, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC equipment while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety.
Responsibilities include:
Program CNC machines to manufacture precision components. Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding. Set up and operate CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Horizontal Mills, and Vertical Boring Mills (VBM). Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications. Develop efficient machining methods to maximize productivity while maintaining quality. Select cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies appropriate for each job. Inspect completed parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other metrology equipment. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues. Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production Control, and Supervisors to resolve manufacturing challenges. Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic machine care. Complete inspection documentation and production records. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in machining processes. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety policies, ISO Quality procedures, and environmental standards. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving machining challenges. You take ownership of your work and are committed to producing quality parts safely and efficiently. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience Demonstrated experience with CNC programming, machine setup, and operation Strong experience with CNC Milling and CNC Turning Experience with Horizontal Milling and Vertical Boring Mills (VBM) is considered a strong asset Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T) Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and machining practices Excellent knowledge of precision measuring equipment and metrology Experience selecting and installing tooling, fixtures, and workholding systems Conventional machining experience is considered an asset Technical college diploma or equivalent machining experience Skills & Abilities Strong programming and troubleshooting skills Excellent mechanical aptitude High attention to detail Strong problem-solving abilities Commitment to producing quality workmanship Ability to manage multiple priorities Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills Continuous improvement mindset Physical Requirements Standing and walking throughout the shift Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
