ESPRIT EDGE, ESPRIT
20xx, and SolidWorks . This position is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting CNC programs for Mazak machining centers, turning centers, and multi-tasking machines. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience programming complex precision components and understands the complete manufacturing process—from reviewing models and selecting tooling to simulation, setup support, first-article approval, and production optimization. Key Responsibilities Create and optimize CNC programs for Mazak machines using ESPRIT EDGE and ESPRIT 20xx. Program multi-axis milling, turning, mill-turn, and multi-tasking operations. Import, review, repair, and prepare 3D models using SolidWorks and ESPRIT. Determine appropriate machining strategies, workholding, tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters. Create complete machining processes from raw material through finished part. Generate setup sheets, tooling lists, operation instructions, and other documentation needed by setup machinists and operators. Perform program simulation and collision detection before releasing programs to production. Configure and troubleshoot main-spindle, sub-spindle, live-tooling, Y-axis, B-axis, and simultaneous multi-axis operations. Support machine setups, program prove-outs, and first-article inspections on the shop floor. Review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, specifications, and 3D models. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, workholding, dimensional, surface-finish, and cycle-time issues. Modify programs and machining processes to improve quality, tool life, cycle time, and production consistency. Verify posted code and safely make necessary G-code or Mazatrol adjustments. Work with machinists, engineers, quality inspectors, and production leadership to resolve manufacturing issues. Maintain accurate program revisions and ensure the correct programs and documentation are released to production. Assist with the development and validation of ESPRIT post processors and machine configurations. Standardize programming methods, tooling practices, and machining processes across similar parts and machines. Support continuous-improvement and automation projects throughout the machine shop. Required Qualifications Professional experience programming Mazak CNC equipment in a production machining environment. Strong hands-on experience with ESPRIT EDGE and ESPRIT 20xx . Proficiency with SolidWorks , including working with parts, assemblies, and 3D models. Experience programming multi-axis CNC lathes, mills, or mill-turn machines. Strong understanding of turning, milling, drilling, boring, threading, grooving, and multi-axis machining operations. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications. Strong knowledge of cutting tools, toolholders, inserts, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters. Experience with CNC simulation, collision avoidance, program prove-out, and first-article production. Ability to read, understand, and safely edit G-code. Experience troubleshooting machining problems directly at the machine. Ability to produce accurate programs for complex, close-tolerance components. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. Preferred Qualifications Experience programming Mazak machines. Experience with twin-spindle, twin-turret, B-axis, Y-axis, live-tooling, and simultaneous five-axis machining. Familiarity with Mazatrol programming and Mazak Smooth controls. Experience developing or modifying ESPRIT post processors. Experience programming automation, robotic loading, pallet systems, or unattended machining processes. Background in high-volume precision manufacturing or aerospace-related machining. Experience machining stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, copper alloys, plastics, and other engineered materials. Knowledge of inspection methods and measuring equipment used for first-article validation. This individual can develop a machining process independently, support machinists during prove-out, identify potential problems before production begins, and continually improve existing programs.
