Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Metal Fabrication CNC Programer to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for various metal fabrication machines, including 5-axis CNC milling machines and CNC lathes. Your expertise in CAD/CAM software, blueprint interpretation, and precision measurement will ensure the production of high-quality components that meet strict engineering specifications. Duties Develop and write CNC programs using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, and other industry-standard tools to produce complex metal parts. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining processes. Set up machining tools, fixtures, and tooling on CNC milling machines, lathes, and 5-axis CNC machines to optimize machining operations. Program CNC machinery utilizing Fanuc controls and other control systems to achieve precise cuts and finishes on various metals. Conduct precision measurements using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments for quality control purposes. Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine parameters; make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity in the fabrication workflow. Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, and inspection results to ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards. Qualifications Proven experience programming CNC milling machines (including 5-axis CNC machines) and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA for engineering design and schematic interpretation. Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems and CAM programming software for efficient machine operation. Ability to read mechanical blueprints with GD&T annotations accurately; experience with schematics is essential. Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes, tooling selection, and setup procedures. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), measurement tools like bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and precision measurement techniques. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication process. Excellent math skills for programming calculations involving geometry and machining tolerances.
