Job Description
Join Our Team Research Metal Industries (RMI) is a precision aerospace manufacturer producing high-quality, close-tolerance components for the aerospace industry. We are looking for an experienced Senior CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our growing team and play a key role in developing machining processes for complex aerospace parts. This is more than a programming position. Position Summary The Senior CNC Programmer/Machinist will independently program, set up, prove out, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC milling and turning operations while working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure efficient, high-quality manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Program, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam. Develop machining strategies from engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements. Perform complete machine setups, prove-outs, and first-piece validation. Optimize tooling, cycle times, feeds, speeds, and machining processes. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, fixture, and programming issues. Support production launches and process improvements. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to improve manufacturability and efficiency. Mentor and support less experienced machinists as needed. Qualifications Minimum ten (10) years of CNC programming and machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment. Experience programming CNC mills and lathes. Proficiency with Mastercam and/or Virtual Gibbs Experience with Fanuc controls. Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills. Experience performing complete machine setups and program prove-outs. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Aerospace manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
