Overview We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer with expertise in Mastercam to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role involves developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for complex metal machining operations, including 5-axis CNC milling and CNC lathe processes. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge of CAD/CAM software, blueprint reading, and precision measurement instruments to ensure high-quality production standards. Duties Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for a variety of machining operations, including 5-axis milling and CNC lathe work. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to ensure precise manufacturing specifications. Set up and calibrate CNC machinery, including tooling selection and fixture setup, ensuring optimal machining conditions. Utilize CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA for designing parts and verifying geometries before programming. Perform precision measurements using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement tools to verify part accuracy. Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve machining efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality control processes. Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling wear, or machine performance; adjust programs accordingly. Maintain detailed documentation of CNC programs, tooling configurations, and process parameters for quality assurance. Collaborate with engineering teams on CAD design modifications and technical schematics to meet project specifications. Ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for all machined components. Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing machining processes and recommending enhancements. Experience Proven experience in CNC programming with Mastercam in a manufacturing environment specializing in metal machining. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics accurately. Extensive familiarity with Fanuc controls as well as other CNC controllers used in multi-axis machining centers. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA for engineering design integration. Hands-on experience with CNC tooling setup, fixture design, and toolpath optimization for precision manufacturing. Knowledge of CAM software workflows for programming complex parts involving 3D geometry and 5-axis machining. Understanding of measurement techniques using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, CMMs, and other precision instruments. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and improve productivity. Ability to read mechanical blueprints thoroughly while applying GD&T standards effectively. Background in electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus but not mandatory. Strong math skills relevant to machining calculations including geometry and measurement conversions.
