Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer & Machinist on behalf of our client, a newly established engineering division specializing in mold repair services, new mold fabrication, and automation support for the North American market. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will act as the technical authority for the shop floor—accurately programming, setting up, and operating both CNC lathes and 5-axis mills to fabricate and modify high-precision plastic injection mold components based on strict drawing specifications.

Salary Range:
$95,000•$110,000 per year
Major Responsibilities CAM Programming:
Build, optimize, and edit highly efficient 3-axis and 5-axis machining programs using Mastercam for both mills and lathes.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Read blueprints and engineering drawings to calculate correct dimensions, machine speeds, tool paths, curvatures, and feed rates.
Setup & Operation:
Independently set up and operate CNC 5-axis mills and CNC lathes to execute complex machining sequences.
Process Optimization:
Determine machine operation sequences, select proper cutting tools, establish reference points, and maximize overall machine tool life.
Quality & Tolerance Control:
Utilize precision hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to verify workpiece conformance to tight engineering tolerances.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
View and interpret 3D renderings of injection molds, collaborating directly with management, engineering personnel, and shop floor teams to improve work throughput.
Maintenance:
Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure pristine housekeeping of the assigned work area.
Ideal Candidate ProfileRequired Experience & Technical Skills Experience:
5+ years of recent experience operating and programming both CNC 5-Axis Mills and CNC Lathes in a precision metal machining environment.
CAM Mastery:
5+ years of advanced CAM programming experience, specifically utilizing Mastercam .
Machining Knowledge:
Proven ability to develop programs for 3-axis and 5-axis precision machinery, regulating cutting factors (speed, feed, coolant flow, depth/angle of cut).
Software Skills:
Strong computer proficiency spanning CAM, CAD, and MS Office.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using precision measurement tools and reading blueprints.
Work Ethic:
Demonstrated ability to thrive and maintain precision in a fast-paced environment. Nice-to-Have Skills Direct experience in the plastic injection mold-making industry. Experience with thin-wall packaging molds is a major asset.
