Company Overview CNC Programmer / Setup Specialist The CNC Programmer / Setup Specialist prepares programs and tooling packages for the CNC equipment in the machine shop using machine tooling knowledge to develop and program the required processes and tooling packages required to manufacture components to their drawing specifications. Essential Duties 1. The CNC Programmer / Setup Specialistis responsible for: Using Mazatrol and HAAS programming to write the program code to manufacture specific components to meet the drawing specifications. Utilizing his or her knowledge of tooling and processes to develop the tooling package required to manufacture specific components which meet drawing requirements. Coordinate the gathering and assembly of the tooling packages into kits or job bins prior to the parts being manufactured. Tooling packages may include fixtures and specific callouts of tool holders and cutting tools as required by the programs. Maintain and manage tools effectively in order to control inventory availability and costs. 2. Assists with training of Level I, II and III Operators as assigned. 3. Perform other related duties as assigned. Environment and Physical Activity The environment for this position is an open production area that may be subject weather conditions including extreme heat - temperatures can potentially rise to 100 degrees or more for periods of more than one hour; noise that is sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level; hazards including working close to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, exposure to chemicals and working at elevated levels. The worker may be subject to fumes, odors, dusts or mists. In the course of performing the duties of the position the worker spends time speaking, listening, lifting (up to 85 pounds), carrying, sitting, pulling, pushing, walking, squatting, kneeling, reaching and standing for prolonged periods. Safety awareness and compliance with safety regulations is vital. Workers must wear special safety equipment such as masks, gloves, and work boots. This position may be required to operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, and general office equipment including copy and fax machines, calculator, personal computer and related printers. He/she must be able to stand for prolonged periods. Mental Demands The incumbent in this position must be able to: read and write, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; perform simple mathematic calculations including add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; perform analytical reasoning, handle multiple, concurrent tasks and interact professionally with clients and staff. Position Requirements These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. All CNC Level III requirements and: High School Diploma or Technical certificate from an accredited school; 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; 5 years CNC experience; a certification in CNC programing, advanced blueprint reading and machine mathematics with 2 years' experience or 10 years' experience in programing and setup. Advanced knowledge of tooling and inserts: boring bars, turning holders, insert identification. Knowledge and experience using Mazatrol and HAAS software ability to write programs. Ability to adjusts offsets and program origins to different job specifications. Makes fixtures and holding devices for CNC mills and lathes Knowledge of tooling and processes to develop the tooling package required to manufacture specific components which meet drawing requirements.
