Full Job Description Cook's Machine Shop, LLC Augusta, GA Full-Time Pay:

$28.00-$38.00 per hour, based on experience and ability Job Description Cook's Machine Shop, LLC is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our team in Augusta, Georgia. We are looking for someone who is more than a CNC operator. The ideal candidate will be capable of taking a job from print to finished part, including programming, machine setup, tooling selection, machining, inspection, troubleshooting, and making adjustments as needed. This is a hands-on position in a working machine shop. We are looking for an experienced machinist who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality parts and who can work independently when necessary. Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate CNC milling and/or turning equipment Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and tolerances Create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs Set work offsets, tool offsets, and machine parameters Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, speeds, and feeds Perform complete machine setups for new and repeat jobs Machine both production and one-off/custom parts Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment Make adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances Identify and correct machining, tooling, programming, or setup problems Perform basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized Work with management and other machinists to improve machining processes and efficiency Maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process

Qualifications Required:

Previous CNC machining experience CNC programming and setup experience Ability to independently set up and run CNC equipment Strong understanding of G-code and CNC machining principles Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and blueprints Knowledge of GD&T and machining tolerances Experience using precision measuring equipment, including: Micrometers Calipers Indicators Bore gauges Height gauges Knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining practices Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming problems Ability to hold close tolerances Dependable attendance and strong work ethic Preferred Qualifications Experience programming CNC mills and lathes Experience with CAD/CAM programming software Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials Experience in a job-shop or custom machining environment Manual machining experience is a plus Experience working from customer drawings and reverse-engineering existing parts is a plus What We're Looking For We are especially interested in machinists who can receive a print or job assignment and confidently determine: How the part should be machined How the part should be held or fixtured What tooling should be used Appropriate speeds and feeds The correct machining sequence How to program and prove out the job How to inspect the finished part If your CNC experience has primarily consisted of loading parts and pressing Cycle Start, this position may not be the right fit. We are looking for someone with genuine programming, setup, and machining experience . Compensation $28.00-$38.00 per hour Starting pay will be based on experience, programming ability, machine knowledge, and demonstrated machining skills.
