We're looking for someone with hands-on experience setting up, programming, and operating advanced CNC lathes, particularly machines with sub-spindles, Y-axis capability, and live tooling . This is a great opportunity for an experienced machinist who enjoys working independently, troubleshooting problems, and taking ownership of their work. You'll work in a job-shop environment where priorities can change, so we need someone who is organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple machines and jobs. What You'll Do Set up, program, and operate 2500SY CNC lathes or equivalent machines Work with sub-spindles, Y-axis machining, and live tooling Move between multiple machines and production priorities as needed Set up jobs and establish processes that can be handed off to other operators Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications Inspect completed parts using appropriate gauges and measuring equipment Verify parts meet blueprint and quality specifications Troubleshoot machining, setup, and production issues Maintain quality, efficiency, cost awareness, and accuracy throughout the machining process Follow company safety procedures and shop standards Work independently while contributing to a positive and productive team environment What We're Looking For 5+ years of CNC programming experience Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes Experience in a job-shop environment Knowledge of machining methods, tooling, fixturing, and manufacturing processes Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications Ability to inspect finished parts and verify tolerances Strong basic math and problem-solving skills Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and priorities Dependable, organized, and self-motivated Ability to adapt to changing production needs Preferred Experience Sub-spindle CNC lathes Y-axis machining Live tooling Multi-axis programming GibbsCAM Why CJ Precision? $27.00-$32.00 per hour , based on experience Four-day workweek — Monday through Thursday Optional Friday work Day shift Healthcare benefits 401(k) benefits Hands-on position with opportunities to work on a variety of machining projects Stable, full-time employment in Boise If you are an experienced CNC machinist who can independently set up, program, troubleshoot, and run CNC lathes, we'd like to hear from you.
