About the Role As a Senior CNC Programmer and Mechanical Designer, you will serve as the technical cornerstone for our precision fabrication and machining operations. You will drive production efficiency by bridging the gap between complex customer requirements and shop-floor execution, utilizing your expertise in CAD/CAM software to deliver high-quality components for heavy-duty industrial applications. Responsibilities Develop and refine CNC programs for a diverse array of equipment, including mills, lathes, horizontal boring mills, and advanced cutting tables. Maximize material utilization and reduce burn times by engineering efficient nesting strategies. Transform conceptual sketches and worn components into precise, production-ready 3D models and technical drawings. Collaborate directly with client engineering teams to provide design consultations, improve wear-life, and solve complex manufacturing challenges. Standardize programming workflows, including tool library management, post-processor optimization, and rigorous revision control. Conduct hands-on program validation on the shop floor to ensure seamless transitions from digital design to finished part. Analyze RFQs and technical specifications to identify potential manufacturability hurdles prior to production. Contribute to the strategic growth of our technical capabilities by assisting in the selection and integration of new manufacturing technologies. Qualifications Required Skills 5+ years of professional experience in CNC programming within a job shop or fabrication setting. Proficiency in CAD/CAM platforms such as BobCAD-CAM, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Inventor. Deep understanding of GD&T standards and complex weld symbols. Proven ability to manage nesting software, specifically ProNest or similar industry tools. Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical tradeoffs for non-technical stakeholders. Experience machining high-hardness, wear-resistant materials. Preferred Skills Formal education in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. Technical expertise in large-part fixturing and horizontal boring mill operations. Demonstrated success in reverse engineering worn components. Experience mentoring junior programmers or leading technical training initiatives. Familiarity with ERP systems for project tracking and resource management.
