Job Description
Job Summary We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our manufacturing plant in Vernon Hills Illinois. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable manufacturing company with a strong reputation for quality and precision machining. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC lathes to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and tooling will ensure high-quality production standards are met efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining tools and contribute to innovative manufacturing projects in a fast-paced environment. Duties Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and lathes. Create, edit, and modify CNC programs directly at the machine control. Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings. Select tooling and perform complete machine setups. Adjust speeds, feeds, and offsets to optimize production. Troubleshoot machining and programming issues. Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMM equipment. Perform routine machine maintenance. Work closely with engineering and quality teams to improve manufacturing processes. Qualifications Must have experience programming directly at the machine control. Candidates who only program using CAM software (such as Mastercam) without the ability to create programs at the machine will not be considered. Experience with Fanuc controls preferred. Strong experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes. Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T. Experience performing complete machine setups, tooling changes, and troubleshooting. Proficient with precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs. Metal machining experience required. Welding experience is a plus but not required.
