Position Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to support our Specialty Tooling Department. This role will be responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and inspecting CNC-machined components used in die and mold production . The ideal candidate will have strong CNC machining and programming expertise, excellent blueprint-reading and measurement skills, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes in a high-demand tooling environment. Key Responsibilities Program, set up, and operate CNC milling equipment, including Okuma, Haas, Nidec, and Toyoda , as well as manual machining equipment. Create and maintain CNC programs using Mastercam, G-code, M-code, customer drawings, and approved design data . Use AutoCAD Mechanical and Autodesk Inventor to create and modify 2D/3D tooling drawings and models. Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, workholding methods, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies. Machine components for die and mold production with a focus on quality, accuracy, and efficiency. Inspect machined components using micrometers, calipers, height indicators, machine probing, and other precision measuring equipment . Verify parts meet required specifications and tight tolerances, including ±0.002 inches where applicable . Monitor CNC machine performance and make necessary program, tooling, or setup adjustments. Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous improvement initiatives. Help improve machining throughput, reduce costs, and optimize unmanned machining operations. Support repair and machining processes to meet tooling schedules. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to prioritize production, machine, and repair requirements. Provide technical guidance and training to less-experienced machinists when needed. Required Qualifications & Experience 8+ years of experience in machine shop operations, CNC milling, or precision machining. 2-5 years of CNC programming experience , preferably using Mastercam . Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, CNC setup, feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and machining strategies . Experience with die, mold, or specialty tooling production. Proficiency with Mastercam, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or comparable CAD/CAM software . Strong blueprint-reading and mathematical skills. Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges/indicators, and machine probing . Ability to inspect and machine components to tight tolerances. Strong troubleshooting, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet production schedules. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Qualifications Trade school, technical certificate, associate degree, or related machining/manufacturing training. Experience with Okuma, Haas, Nidec, or Toyoda CNC equipment. Experience supporting continuous improvement, unmanned machining, and process optimization . Previous experience mentoring or training junior machinists.
