JOB TITLE
PROGRAMMER - CNC
OBJECTIVE
Develops programs for fabricating parts on 3, 4 and 5 axis high speed NC machines. Working from customer designs and specifications, determine machining requirements and prepare NC programs to manufacture tight tolerance parts. Maximizes machine efficiency by determining optimum cutter paths.

Level I:
Major Activities Performed and Machine/Tools Used by All Job Levels Set-up and program simple parts and tooling Windows based PC Catia V5 Vericut Mastercam Typical Job Knowledge General Manufacturing Knowledge Able to read, interpret and understand blueprints, mylars and related documents Knowledgeable of feeds, speeds, cutter types and material removal methods for specific materials Familiar with machine codes Demonstrate good communication skills Solid math, reading, and writing due to the high level of the systems Able to plan detailed sequence of operations for programs and provide sufficient documentation Work from written and verbal instructions Able to program 3-4 axis parts using CAD/CAM software Education & Experience High School or equivalent Mechanical aptitude and good work ethic desired 2-3 years manufacturing experience (CNC machine operator) preferred Ability to run NWI Aerostructures manufacturing software
Level II:
Major Activities Performed and Machine/Tools Used by All Job Levels Same as Level I Set-up and program complex 5-axis parts Tooling Design Typical Job Knowledge Perform all requirements of Level I Good Manufacturing Knowledge of machining and other related processes Basic knowledge of SPC Good logic and organizational skills in order to manage simultaneous multiple tasks Able to program 3-4-5 axis parts and design tooling using CAD/CAM software Able to utilize Vericut verification software Able to utilize posting software Assist Manufacturing with improving processes Education & Experience High School or equivalent, some college hours or equivalent in related field Certified Catia training or equivalent job training experience 5+ years programming experience preferred 3-5 years manufacturing experience preferred Ability to run NWI Aerostructures manufacturing software
Level III:
Major Activities Performed and Machine/Tools Used by All Job Levels Same as Level I and II Model parts from 2-D drawing and loft data Tooling Design for complex parts and assemblies Self-directed and motivated Work directly with multiple departments Work directly with multiple levels of management Typical Job Knowledge Perform all requirements of Level I and II Capable of monitoring work performed by CNC Programmers Able to plan detailed sequence of operations for programs and provide sufficient documentation Able to assist planning with work related issues Education & Experience High School or equivalent, some college hours or equivalent in related field Certified Catia training or equivalent job training experience 10+ years programming experience preferred 5-10 years manufacturing experience preferred Ability to run NWI Aerostructures manufacturing software Safety Functions Promote a safe, clean and organized work environment Wear required safety equipment (safety glasses, ear protection, safety toe shoes, etc.) Report all work related injuries to supervisor as soon as possible Notify senior management when safe conditions do not comply
