The CNC Programmer-Turning Applications is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for a variety of single spindle / turret lathes along with multi-axis dual spindle / dual turret lathes to produce precision components for aerospace, defense, and medical applications. This role requires proven expertise in generating high quality CNC programs and machining processes using MasterCam programming software in a fast-paced, high-mix / low volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of commercially available cutting tools and toolholder systems, along with a proven history of developing and troubleshooting machining processes across a variety of materials and component designs within a precision environment. Important MK Services is an AS9100-approved manufacturing organization specializing in complex machining for the Defense and Aerospace industries. This position is on-site and requires hands-on CNC programming and manufacturing planning experience. Machine operation, setup, or supervisory experience alone does not meet the qualifications for this role . Key Responsibilities:
Program Development :
Create and optimize CNC programs using Master Cam software to produce complex components for aerospace, defense, and medical applications.
Technical Drawings :
Interpret and analyze technical drawings per
ASME Y14.5 GD&T
blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining operations and process sequences.
Tool & Material Selection :
Research and select appropriate cutting tools, holders, fixtures, and materials for each job, considering machine capabilities and part specifications.
Machine Setup and Process Troubleshooting :
Work directly and communicate with our team of talented CNC machinists to develop and launch new processes, improve existing ones and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet customer quality and workmanship standards.
Collaboration :
Work closely with engineers, machinists, and quality control teams to resolve issues and improve machining processes.
Documentation :
Maintain accurate, consistent and up to date records of CNC programs, proven .nc files, setup documentation for all assigned programming projects.
Continuous Improvement :
Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC programming and machining technologies to enhance production efficiency and quality.
Compliance :
Ensure all machining operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards
Skills & Experience Education :
High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in CNC programming, machine tool technology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC programming, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or medical industries.
Software Proficiency :
Proficient in Master Cam programming software or similar CAD/CAM tools (Gibbs, CAMWorks, Solidworks)
Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality control standards.
Problem-Solving :
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize machining operations both while working individually and in a team setting.
Communication :
Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across all levels within the organization (machinists, other programmers, management, as well as external vendors and suppliers.
