The company develops and manufactures metal forming machinery and dies from its world class facility located in Worcester, Massachusetts and has sales offices in Shanghai, China and Chennai, India. We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist who will independently program, set up, and operate CNC lathes to consistently produce accurate, quality die blanks that meet manufacturing requirements and are ready for heat treatment. This role is an on-site position at our state-of-the-art Worcester manufacturing facility. The hiring wage range for the position is $31 to $34 an hour. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes used in the manufacture of cylindrical die blanks. Write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code programs for CNC lathe machining operations for a wide variety of variations and setups. Develop machining programs from engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements. Determine appropriate machining sequences and methods for individual die blanks. Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining parameters. Establish and adjust tool offsets and work offsets as required. Inspect parts during and after machining using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. Identify and troubleshoot programming, machining, tooling, workholding, and material-related problems. Communicate machining or material concerns to Die Operations, Engineering, or other appropriate personnel. Perform routine machine maintenance and assist in maintaining equipment in good operating condition. Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and established manufacturing practices. Qualifications 3+ years of experience with CNC lathe machining and programming. control is a plus. Ability to independently write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code programs. Strong understanding of CNC lathe setup and operation, and precision CNC tuning. Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, speeds, feeds, tool offsets, work offsets, and machining practices. Experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment. Ability to read manufacture drawings and work to tight tolerances. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. Ability to work independently while and as part of team Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Apprenticeship, vocational training, or formal Tool & Die education preferred. Ability to stand for extended periods during machine setup, operation, and inspection. Ability to safely lift and move materials and tooling up to 50 lbs.
