G. Edelen Company, Inc., a 103-year-old family-owned metal fabrication manufacturer in East Baltimore, is seeking an experienced CNC Laser Cutting Machine Programmer. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of CNC machine programming experience, preferably with CNC laser cutting machines such as Amada and Mazak. Experience programming tube laser cutting machines is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Create, modify, and optimize CNC laser cutting programs Program Amada flat-sheet lasers and Mazak tube lasers Review blueprints, DXF files, CAD and Solidworks drawings, and 3D models Select proper cutting conditions based on material type and thickness Create efficient nests to improve material usage and reduce scrap Calculate the number of sheets, tubes, or bars required for each job Confirm that programmed quantities match the quantities required Prepare clear setup sheets and instructions for machine operators Perform program simulations and identify possible cutting or collision issues Troubleshoot programming errors and poor cut-quality issues Revise programs when drawings, quantities, or job requirements change Maintain organized program files with the job number, revision, date, and time Work closely with Engineering, Production, and machine operators Assist operators with machine setup and first-piece verification when needed Follow company procedures for program approval and revision control Qualifications At least two years of CNC machine programming experience Experience programming CNC laser cutting machines, preferably Amada and Mazak Tube laser cutting programming experience is strongly preferred Familiarity with CAD/CAM software or SolidWorks Ability to read and understand blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications Understanding of dimensional tolerances, material types, and material thicknesses Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum Knowledge of nesting, cutting conditions, kerf compensation, and material utilization Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with engineers and machine operators Experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment is preferred Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience Healthcare options 401(k) Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays Holiday bonus Air-conditioned manufacturing environment Access to modern fabrication equipment and software Casual, respectful, and collaborative workplace Stable employment with a long-established, family-owned company
