Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Setup Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to ensure efficient and precise production runs. Your expertise in machine setup, programming, and measurement will be crucial in maintaining high-quality standards and optimizing manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining tools and contribute to the creation of precision metal components in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Duties Responsible for set-up of the CNC for the cutting of custom tooling for plastic injection aluminum molds and fixtures. Position involves frequent contact with CNC Programmer and Mold Makers to maximize the overall efficiency in the CNC set up for Prototype and Production Tool Manufacturing processes. Utilize design drawings, models, verbal and written instruction to set up blocks and tools for molds and fixtures. Initiate and follow through with the CNC Programmer; leader to manage the complete tool manufacturing process including rework, repair and design change management. Manage the coordination of materials (cutters/blocks) needed to complete the machining process for all molds and fixtures. Must read programs into CNC to start the machining process. During any slow time, candidate must either look for opportunity to learn the Programming software or help in the shop to make details for molds. Requirements Proven experience with CNC machining processes, including setup and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines. Strong knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for interpreting technical drawings. Proficiency in CAM programming for generating tool paths compatible with CNC machinery. Familiarity with G-code, M-code programming languages used in CNC operations. Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications. Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus but not required. Mechanical knowledge of machining tools, manual tools, power tools, grinders, hand tools, and assembly techniques. Basic math skills for calculating measurements, tolerances, and machine settings. Strong attention to detail with excellent measurement skills using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other precision instruments. Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with an understanding of manufacturing standards. Knowledge of M-code programming for controlling machine functions during operations.
