Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Davenport Setup/Operator for the First Shift to join our manufacturing team. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient setup and operation of Davenport machines, which are critical for precise metal and plastic component production. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC machining, and experience with various machining tools and measurement instruments. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining high-quality standards, optimizing production processes, and supporting lean manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate Davenport machines, ensuring proper calibration and alignment for each production run Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to facilitate correct machine setup Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM programming software to produce precise components Utilize CAD software such as SolidWorks and other design tools for tooling design and modifications Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part quality Perform manual machining tasks on lathes, grinders, and other machining tools as needed Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols including forklift operation when necessary Troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production flow Support quality control inspections through measurement and visual assessment to meet specifications Assist in tooling setup, changeovers, and adjustments to optimize machining efficiency Collaborate with team members to implement lean manufacturing practices and improve processes
Qualifications:
Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC lathes and milling machines, preferably Fanuc-controlled systems Strong understanding of mechanical blueprint reading and interpretation of mechanical blueprints Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, and CAM software Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks or similar for tooling design purposes Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and metal machining techniques Ability to read blueprints accurately and perform precision measurements using measurement instruments such as micrometers and bore gauges Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in manual machining, grinding, welding, and assembly operations Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and machine settings Experience with measurement quality control tools including coordinate measuring machines (CMM) Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment safely Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills Commitment to safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives Join our team as a Davenport Setup/Operator (First Shift) if you are passionate about precision manufacturing, eager to develop your skills in a dynamic environment, and dedicated to producing high-quality components that meet rigorous standards.
