Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Lathe Programmer/Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and tooling setup will ensure the highest quality standards are met while maintaining efficient production workflows. Duties Develop and write CNC lathe programs using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, or other engineering CAD design tools, ensuring optimal machining strategies. Set up CNC lathes, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and calibration to meet precise specifications. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to accurately produce complex parts. Operate multi-axis CNC lathe equipment with a focus on precision measurement and quality control. Conduct routine machine maintenance, tool changes, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. Utilize measurement tools such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for quality assurance. Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency in machining operations. Program CNC lathes with advanced CAM software for efficient toolpath generation and process simulation. Maintain detailed documentation of machining parameters, inspection reports, and process adjustments for traceability. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar control systems. Strong knowledge of CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Mastercam for engineering design and schematic interpretation. Experience with CNC tooling selection, setup, and maintenance for metal machining applications. Deep understanding of mechanical blueprint reading and interpretation of schematics for precision manufacturing. Ability to operate measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and improve productivity. Skilled in CAM programming software for efficient machine operation on CNC milling and turning centers. Mechanical knowledge combined with strong math skills for precise measurement and process calculations. Experience working with 5-axis CNC machines or CNC milling machines is advantageous. Ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly while maintaining safety standards.
