We specialize in high mix, low to mid volume production and are building a manufacturing first operation with strong engineering support. We are a small agile company who prides itself on our creative problem solving aptitude while always operating with a sense of urgency to meet targets for our clients. The Role This is a highly independent hands on CNC machining role in a small department responsible for taking parts from print or model to complete and ready to ship. The ideal candidate is confident independently making decisions regarding machining strategy, workholding, and tooling as well as estimating time required to complete critical tasks. The candidate is proficient operating CAM software, setting up machines, running parts and inspecting critical features. This is a great opportunity for a skilled machinist ready to take ownership and operate at a higher level in an environment where your impact is seen and known. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking full ownership of jobs from start to finish without relying on others for direction.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
"Team First" mentality showing strong communication skills both written and verbal with a commitment to the overall goal (not just individual targets). Possesses a strong mechanical background and ability to highlight risks in projects on the front end. Strong organizational skill set with proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to quickly and efficiently take a 3D model or 2D print to production including determining workholding strategy, machining strategy, tool selection, CAM programming, machine setup, operation, and inspection. Experience programming, setting up, and operating 3 and 4-axis mills. Experience programming, setting up, and operating 2-axis turning centers. Creatively designs unique workholding solutions including pallets, 4th axis tombstones, arbors, etc utilizing fixture clamps and standard hardware. Inspection abilities utilizing basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, height gage, etc.) Strong ability to read and interpret prints including tolerances, print notes, and GD&T. Desire to work with your hands and on your feet in a fast paced environment with a high performance culture. Strong desire for advancement in both abilities and responsibilities to support business growth. Able to perform machine maintenance as needed. Enjoys working in a small company atmosphere with a high diversity of responsibilities and opportunities to learn new skills.
Desired Skills:
3+ Years of hands on experience in CNC Programming, Setup & Operation (or equivalent demonstrated capability) Technical degree in computer integrated machining or equivalent preferred. Autodesk Fusion360 programming experience preferred. Machine troubleshooting experience to diagnose, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment as needed is a plus.
What Success Looks Like:
You meet with business owner to determine weekly production schedule collaborating to determine what runs on what machine, set production targets, and determine what's needed to achieve goals. New parts are independently programmed, set up, and machined with minimal input from manager once schedule is set. Production problems are creatively solved using strong mechanical background and experience as they arise. Less experienced team members learn from you as you act as a technical lead on the shop floor. You identify improvements in our processes and equipment that can help us increase efficiency, throughput, and quality in both parts and our working lives.
Compensation:
$70,000 annual base salary with monthly performance incentive tied directly to output. High performers can earn $75k-$80k+ annually in this structure with no cap on upside. 2wks PTO + paid holidays. Company health plan. Company sponsored training & education assistance.
