Job Description
CNC Programmer SteelFab, Inc. Charlotte, NC Job Details Full-time $22.50

Key Responsibilities:
- Import part geometry (DXF/DSTV/STP or similar) and prepare accurate CNC programs for CNC machinery.
- Nest parts efficiently using nesting software to minimize scrap and maximize material yield.
- Program bevel cuts, copes, and part geometry to job specification and applicable structural steel standards.
- Review shop drawings and structural steel detailing packages (e.g. from Tekla, Advanced Steel, or similar) to verify part accuracy before programming.
- Set and adjust cut parameters (amperage, cut height, speed, kerf) for different material thicknesses and types.
- Troubleshoot programming or nesting errors and coordinate with shop floor personnel to resolve cutting issues in real time.
- Collaborate with detailing, and production teams to support on-time job releases.
- Maintain accurate records of nest files, cut lists, and material usage reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to nesting efficiency, cut quality, and program turnaround time.
Required Qualifications:
- Basic computer proficiency (file management, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy under production deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, cut lists, and fabrication specifications.
- Working knowledge of basic geometry and machining terms (e.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with CAD/CAM nesting software systems (Shopdata, OmniWin, ProNest, or similar).
- Experience with structural detailing software (Tekla, Advanced Steel, or similar)
- Background in structural steel fabrication.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen (this role involves access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) under a U.S. defense contract).
- Must be able to pass a background check.
