Position Summary Magellan Aerospace, Middletown has an exciting new opportunity for a CNC Programmer. The purpose of this position is to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs to support the production of high-precision components using 3-5 axis machine centers, water jets, VTL's, wire EDM, and laser welders, primarily for aerospace and defense applications. The successful incumbent will work with Siemens NX and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and resolve machining issues while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry quality standards. Essential Responsibilities Create and optimize CNC programs for 3 & 5-axis machines using Siemens NX and other software's to produce complex aerospace & defense components and tooling Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining operations and sequences Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job, ensuring machine capabilities align with part specifications Select appropriate tooling for each job and design/create custom fixtures when necessary Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, machine setups, modifications, and test results Generate documentation to set up CNC machines, perform test runs, and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet specified quality and tolerance standards Work closely with engineers, machinists, and quality control teams to resolve technical issues and improve machining processes Work with quality engineers and inspectors to conduct checks on finished products using precision measuring tools ensuring compliance with part specifications Stay updated on the latest advancements in CNC programming and machining technologies to improve production efficiency and quality Ensure all machining operations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices Position Requirements An Associate's degree in CNC programming, machine tool technology, or related field preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC programming and machining to include 5-axis Experience in the aerospace, defense, or medical industries is strongly preferred Familiarity with Siemens, Fanuc, Hurco, and Mazak controls CMM Experience to include PC-DMIS software a plus Proficient in Siemens NX software Familiarity with any other CAD/CAM software is a plus Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality control standards Experience in creating and optimizing complex CNC programs for precision machining Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and equipment Familiarity with G-code and M-codes Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize machining operations Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of precision and quality Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, machinery, and potential hazards, while adhering to all safety protocols Occasional travel up to 20% may be required to support sister divisions within the U.S and Canada Why Magellan?
