We pride ourselves on solving complex machining challenges, delivering high-tolerance parts, and continuously investing in advanced equipment and automation. Our culture values craftsmanship, innovation, and growth. The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Lead CNC Programmer with strong experience in Mastercam and multi-axis machining. The ideal candidate is hands-on—capable of both programming and running parts on the floor—while also mentoring machinists and driving process improvements. This role is pivotal to scaling our capabilities and ensuring efficiency in high-mix, low-volume production. Key Responsibilities Lead tooling and workholding standardization — standard tool numbers, holders, preset lengths, and common tooling across machines. Develop and optimize CNC programs in Mastercam for 3-axis, 3+2, and 5-axis machining centers, plus turning. Reduce setup time through offline tool presetting, kitted setups, staged fixturing, and quick-change / zero-point workholding. Reduce cycle time on repeat jobs through toolpath, feeds/speeds, and operation sequencing improvements — with measured before/after results. Own Mastercam templates, post processors, and programming standards so output is consistent regardless of who programmed the job. Produce and maintain setup sheets, tool lists, and program documentation as a required deliverable on every job. Set up, prove out, and run prototype and production first articles to tight tolerances. Review prints for manufacturability and raise issues at quote and drawing release — not after the setup is on the machine. Collaborate with Quality on GD&T interpretation, FAI / AS9102, and source inspection. Train and mentor machinists on setups, offsets, probing, and troubleshooting, and hold the floor to the standard. Support automation — robotic tending, zero-point fixturing, pallet utilization — toward lights-out capability. Qualifications 8+ years of CNC programming experience, preferably in aerospace or defense. Mastery of Mastercam — multi-axis required, including template creation and post processor troubleshooting.
Hands-on machining background:
you have personally set up, proven out, and run the parts you programmed. Strong GD&T and datum strategy — able to defend workholding and operation sequencing from the print, including when the drawing's datum structure conflicts with how the part has to be held. Experience in high-mix, low-volume production and the changeover demands that come with it. Demonstrated record of implementing a standard — tool library, template system, or setup discipline — that was adopted and sustained after you built it.
Materials experience:
aluminum, stainless, plastics, etc. Leadership ability — takes ownership of projects, sets the standard, and guides a small team.
Preferred:
probing and in-process inspection (Renishaw or equivalent); quick-change and zero-point fixturing (Erowa, Raptor, 5th Axis); tool presetter experience; horizontal machining and pallet strategy; SolidWorks or equivalent CAD for fixture design; prior AS9100 shop. What We Offer Competitive pay and benefits (health, dental, vision, life). Great work-life balance. Opportunity to shape processes, grow with the company, and work on interesting projects.
