Precision Manufacturing / Machine Shop Position Summary Millennial Tools, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on CNC programming experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing, modifying, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC programs used to manufacture high-precision components according to engineering drawings, CAD models, customer specifications, and established quality requirements. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, CAD/CAM programming, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, machine setup, and precision inspection. This position requires an individual who can work independently from blueprint or model through programming, setup, prove-out, inspection, and production. This is a programming-focused position. Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to CNC machine operation, loading/unloading parts, or making basic offsets will not meet the experience requirements for this position. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develop CNC programs for mills, lathes, machining centers, and other CNC equipment as applicable. Create CNC programs and machining processes from engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and customer specifications. Develop, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs using G-code, M-code, and FeatureCAM or comparable CAD/CAM software. Generate and verify CNC toolpaths prior to machining. Review programs and toolpaths for potential collisions, clearance issues, excessive tool engagement, and other machining concerns. Determine appropriate machining sequences and methods for manufacturing precision components. Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, toolholders, fixtures, and workholding methods. Determine appropriate feeds, speeds, depths of cut, offsets, and machining parameters based on material, tooling, machine capability, and required tolerances. Establish work coordinates, tool offsets, reference points, and machining parameters. Create and maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, program documentation, and machining instructions. Perform and/or assist with CNC machine setups and program prove-outs. Make necessary program adjustments during setup and initial production. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, workholding, dimensional, surface-finish, and machining-process issues. Diagnose problems such as chatter, excessive tool wear, deflection, poor surface finish, dimensional variation, and inefficient machining conditions. Optimize existing programs to improve cycle times, tool life, repeatability, productivity, and overall machining efficiency. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and GD&T. Perform first-piece, first-article, and in-process dimensional inspections as required. Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial/test indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, gauge blocks, and other inspection equipment. Make programming or machining-process corrections based on inspection results. Verify that completed components meet blueprint, customer, and quality specifications. Provide technical support to CNC machinists and machine operators during setup and production. Assist production personnel with troubleshooting CNC programs and machining processes. Maintain organized and controlled CNC programs and associated manufacturing documentation. Identify opportunities to reduce setup time, cycle time, scrap, rework, and unnecessary machining operations. Follow established company quality procedures and customer requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, machine-safety procedures, and required PPE requirements. Perform other machining and production-related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience required in a precision machining or manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to independently create, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC programs. Strong proficiency with G-code and M-code. Demonstrated experience using CAD/CAM software to develop CNC programs and toolpaths. Experience with Autodesk FeatureCAM is strongly preferred. Candidates with extensive experience using comparable CAD/CAM programming systems may also be considered. Experience programming CNC mills and/or CNC lathes. Strong knowledge of CNC machining practices and manufacturing processes. Ability to independently develop machining processes from engineering drawings, blueprints, and/or CAD models. Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, surface-finish requirements, and GD&T. Strong knowledge of cutting tools, toolholders, workholding, fixtures, feeds, speeds, depths of cut, offsets, and machining strategies. Experience determining appropriate tooling, machining sequences, workholding, and setup requirements. Hands-on experience performing CNC machine setups and program prove-outs. Strong troubleshooting skills involving CNC programs, tooling, workholding, dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and machining processes. Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment. Ability to perform first-piece and in-process inspections and make necessary programming or process corrections. Experience machining tool steels, hardened steels, stainless steel, aluminum, and other precision-machining materials preferred. Experience with 3-axis CNC machining required; experience with 4-axis and/or 5-axis machining is highly preferred. Experience with FANUC, HAAS, Mazak, Okuma, or similar CNC controls preferred. Experience manufacturing close-tolerance precision components and tooling strongly preferred. Experience in medical tooling, precision tooling, tool-and-die, aerospace, mold-making, or similar high-precision manufacturing environments is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, Production, Quality, and management personnel. Dependable attendance and ability to work according to established production schedules and priorities. Education High school diploma or GED required. Technical certification, vocational training, or an Associate Degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, and extensive CNC programming experience may be considered. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work around CNC machinery for extended periods. Ability to perform machine setup, tooling, inspection, and production-support activities. Ability to bend, reach, and perform tasks associated with CNC machine setup and operation. Ability to safely handle tooling, fixtures, raw materials, and manufactured components. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. as required, with assistance when appropriate. Ability to safely work around industrial machinery, cutting tools, metal chips, coolant, and normal manufacturing noise. Ability to use required personal protective equipment.
