Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Programmer to join our metal machining team. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs for machining a variety of metal components. This position works closely with machinists, engineers, and shop management to ensure parts are produced safely, efficiently, and to customer specifications. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and GD&T, along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD/CAM files. Key Responsibilities Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and other CNC machining equipment. Develop efficient toolpaths using CAD/CAM software. Review engineering drawings, models, and specifications to determine machining requirements. Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding methods, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies. Set up and prove out programs at the machine when required. Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues and make necessary adjustments. Optimize programs to improve cycle times, tool life, part quality, and overall shop efficiency. Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipment. Work closely with CNC machinists to ensure programs are practical, safe, and production-ready. Maintain accurate and organized CNC programs, tooling information, and setup documentation. Support new product introduction, prototype, and production machining. Assist with process improvements, fixture development, and standardization. Ensure all work complies with company quality and safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Qualifications 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a metal machining environment preferred. Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and G-code/M-code. Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM, GibbsCAM, or similar. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications. Knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, materials, speeds, feeds, and machining techniques. Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining equipment. Strong mathematical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with machinists and other team members. High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts safely and efficiently. Preferred Qualifications Experience programming 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC equipment. Experience machining materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, or specialty alloys. Experience with high-production or tight-tolerance machining. Familiarity with CNC setup and machine operation. Experience with fixture design and work holding. Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO quality standards. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move around a manufacturing environment for extended periods. Ability to lift and handle tooling, fixtures, and materials as required. Ability to work around CNC machinery, metal chips, cutting fluids, noise, and other normal machine-shop conditions.
