McDonough Manufacturing is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Eau Claire, WI. If you're a machinist who enjoys variety, challenging setups, and actually using your machining knowledge, this isn't a job where you'll spend every day loading the same part and pushing cycle start. We manufacture large, custom industrial sawmill equipment. Our machinists work on a wide variety of parts, materials, and setups — from straightforward machining to large, complex components that require planning, experience, and problem-solving. Our equipment is engineered, fabricated, machined, assembled, wired, and tested under one roof. As a machinist at McDonough, you get to see how the parts you make fit into the finished machine — and eventually watch that equipment come to life on our shop floor. What You'll Do Set up and operate CNC machining equipment Machine a wide variety of custom and low-volume parts Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings Determine proper setups, tooling, speeds, and feeds Inspect your own work and verify parts meet print requirements Work with a variety of materials and part sizes Troubleshoot machining and setup issues Work closely with engineering, fabrication, assembly, and other machinists Maintain tooling, equipment, and a clean and organized work area Look for opportunities to improve setups, processes, and machining efficiency What We're Looking For We're looking for a skilled CNC machinist with strong mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving ability, and pride in producing quality work. Experience is important, but we also value someone who is willing to learn, take on new challenges, and continue developing their machining skills. Ideally, you have: CNC machining experience Strong blueprint-reading skills Experience setting up your own work A good understanding of machining fundamentals Experience with mills, horizontal boring mills, or similar CNC equipment The ability to measure and inspect your own work Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills The ability to work independently while also being part of a team Pride in producing quality work Experience with Fanuc controls, horizontal boring mills, large-part machining, or one-off/custom machining is a plus.
