Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Painter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to structural steel components, ensuring durability and aesthetic quality on various industrial and commercial projects. This role requires a strong understanding of painting techniques, safety protocols, and construction site practices. Prior experience in construction painting, industrial coating application, and familiarity with schematics and blueprints is highly desirable. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, from renovation to new construction, contributing to the integrity and visual appeal of large-scale steel structures. Responsibilities Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers to ensure proper adhesion of paint or coatings. Apply paints, primers, sealants, or other coatings using brushes, rollers, airless spray equipment, or other hand tools. Follow detailed schematics, blueprints, or technical drawings to accurately paint designated areas. Use hand tools such as caulking guns, putty knives, and plastering tools for surface preparation and finishing touches. Perform surface repairs including patching, plastering, or masonry work as needed before painting. Operate power tools safely for surface preparation and coating application. Maintain a clean work environment by properly disposing of waste materials and cleaning equipment regularly. Adhere to safety standards and protocols related to working at heights, handling hazardous materials, and operating industrial equipment. Skills Proficiency in industrial painting techniques including airless paint spraying and hand tool application. Knowledge of construction estimating and blueprint reading for accurate project execution. Experience with industrial/commercial painting projects Familiarity with schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings specific to steel structures. Experience with power tools and welding is a plus for specialized applications. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project scope. Knowledge of safety procedures related to working at heights and handling hazardous materials. Handyman experience or background in maintenance can be advantageous for versatile project support. $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
